144. On Kedarnath tragedy

The river came rushing
In virgin direction,
Swallowing untouched patches,
Entering laid-back houses,
Taking along people
Reluctant and unsuspecting
Men,women and children,
Those in wombs, those just out,
Those unable to walk,
Those unable to rise.

Just a few left behind
For no reason or rhyme
As if by sheer omission,
Abandoned to bear pain
Of separation and solitude.

River, your action was wrong,
Your fury was mindless,
But most unjust was
Your discrimination in decimation.
