148. Fruits

Fruits were out of reach,
I needed to climb,
I tried, but slipped every time.

A young boy quickly climbed,
Reached the branch
And plucked some fruits.

Glued to the ground,
I kept watching greedily,
Helpless, hungry, dejected.

I begged him for fruits,
But he declined and said,
"Those who cannot climb,
Must not seek fruits."

How do we know said...

But as he grows older,
the boy,
he will learn
that the fruits
are there
because of the water
by a bent back
that cannot climb.

The soil
prepared by generations
that traded
climbing trees
for growing them.

And then
the boy
will climb
and share.
