62. Grazers of Gulmarg

As  the Gandola ( ropeway trolley) from Gulmarg takes you to the top, you see some huts spread over the hills down below. These are homes to people from nearby villages who come here in the summer to graze their animals on hills where grass is in plenty. During winter, their huts are covered by snow, forcing them to return to their villages. When the snow melts in the summer, they return and occupy their huts all over again. Timber, branches of tree, boulders, weeds, etc. are used to make a hut and the entire village joins in the effort. So, a hut is ready in a day or two. It is very economical, durable and comfortable.
