Today's newspaper is spread out-
With tidings of honour killings,
Clashes between two groups,
Rumours sparking off exodus,
Road rage claiming another victim,
Train accident killing a dozen...

Yesterday's paper was no different
And so was the paper day before.

Hawker will again come tomorrow
On his noisy rusty bicycle,
Fresh  newspapers on the carrier-
Same tidings, same pictures
With faces slightly different
And names slightly altered.

Why is newspaper so repetitive?
Why do we love to read
The same thing- so boring
So depressing- again and again?

Is it because only bad news sells?

It is because, so that we can see our spotted bedsheet with soap in hands.
